Opened in May 2018, BRRRN is the world’s first cool temperature fitness studio. Classes range from Yoga-inspired Strength + Mobility Series at 60°F, Core + Cardio Slide Board Series at 55°F, Slide Board + Dumbbell Circuit Series at 50°F, and Battle Rope + Dumbbell Circuit Series at 45°F. BRRRN founders say that working out under such cold temperatures actually improves endurance and recovery, burns more fat and calories, and increases focus and energy.

SLT stands for Strengthen, Lengthen and Tone. This should give you an idea of what to expect. A relatively new system in New York, Megaformer is a machine similar to the pilates Reformer… But built to challenge the bodies of even the fittest ones out there. The 50-minute classes make the most of Megaformer’s system of springs and pulleys, as well as your own body weight to create a low-impact yet effective workout.

Cirque-du-Soleil-type acrobatics seem out of this world to most of us. However, with the right combination of strength, flexibility and agility, anyone can learn the basics! The Muse is located in Brooklyn, but it’s worth the trip. It offers classes inspired by circus skills, such as Wall Running, Acro Standing Circus, Chinese Pole, German Wheel, Trapeze and even Juggling!
Location: 78 Franklin Street, New York, NY 10013
Pool-based workouts have been around for a while but their popularity is steadily increasing. Given that most of us spend a great part of our day sitting down, it’s important to give our muscles the chance to release, tone and strengthen without adding impact to our joints. Aqua fitness classes are more creative and varied than ever. Join a class and combine pool training with cycling, cardio, restorative exercises, strength and HIIT.
Location: 1944 Madison Ave. New York, NY 10035
