July 18th, 2018 | The Flavors of New York
Sometimes you need a vacation from your vacation. Unless of course, you really get the time to kick back and relax without the fuss of deciding where to go next or what to do! Here at The Royalton New York we feel that a perfect way to relax during your vacation is with a glass of something refreshing in hand. Also required is a perfect New York backdrop, and of course, a towering view away from all that street hustle and bustle. What better way to combine all these together than a stylish rooftop bar. To make your choice that much easier, here are our top five.
Location: One World Trade Center, 285 Fulton Street, New York, NY 10007
The highest option on our list, literally, One Dine is set on the 101st floor of the One World Observatory. Although this is an enclosed option-which does make it quieter — One Dine has one of (pun-intended) the best views in New York with incredible food and drinks to match. It has floor to ceiling windows to really bring that view front and center.
Location: 3 Mitchell Place, 26th floor, New York, NY 10017
Perched atop the historic Beekman Tower, Ophelia has done a great job with a great space. This bar has a real 1920’s-30’s feel, and has also managed to salvage some of the original decor — think arched glass windows and rich color palettes. It draws in a Manhattanite crowd and serves some interesting cocktails.
Location: 30 Rockefeller Plaza, 65th Floor, New York, NY 10112
Bar Sixty Five, named after its location on the 65th floor, opened in 1934, just one year after the end of alcohol prohibition. This place sets the standard for classic cocktails. They also have a beautifully picturesque outdoor terrace — the highest in New York — though it comes with a hefty minimum. But then again, quality has never been cheap.
Location: 200 West 39th Street, New York, NY 10018
Although The Skylark is newer on the scene than others on this list, it is warmly furnished, has multiple levels, and is ready for all climates! You can choose off their well-crafted and well-stocked cocktail menu before enjoying the view from their lounge on the 30th floor. Or, if it’s warm, from their rooftop terrace.
Location: 542 West 27th Street, New York, NY 10001
If you are craving a green space, but can’t get to Central Park, this is for you. Gallow Green is really a secret garden bar. This speakeasy hides behind a the train station elevator, before opening up to an incredibly green 360-degree-view terrace, backed by a well-stocked wine and cocktail menu. A great New York hideaway, hands down.
After a pleasurable stay aboard your favorite rooftop, or after having visited several, you will be glad to head back to admire the view from the comfort of your own luxury room at The Royalton Hotel New York.
